The first results of the research carried out within the project “Assessment of environmental risk from mining activities due to tailings storage in the Romania–Serbia cross-border area – ERA-MIN_RO-SRB” were disseminated to the scientific community at the 9th edition of the FESTEM 2025 international conference (Federation of European Societies on Trace Elements and Minerals).

The paper presented by Lecturer Călin Muntean, a faculty member at the Victor Babeș University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timișoara, was well received, prompting numerous questions from the audience. The study titled “Establishing a reference level for cross-border environmental risk assessment: a systematic review of the storage of mining tailings in the Romania (Moldova Nouă) – Serbia (Bor) cross-border region” has already appeared in Volume XII (2025) of the Acta Metallomica series.
