{"id":411,"date":"2025-07-21T09:25:43","date_gmt":"2025-07-21T09:25:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/transfrontaliera.upt.ro\/evenimente\/international-workshop-held-in-bor-serbia\/"},"modified":"2025-11-24T09:23:13","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T09:23:13","slug":"international-workshop-held-in-bor-serbia","status":"publish","type":"evenimente","link":"https:\/\/transfrontaliera.upt.ro\/en\/events\/international-workshop-held-in-bor-serbia\/","title":{"rendered":"International workshop held in Bor, Serbia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On June 27, 2025, the first workshop under the project <em>\u201cEnvironmental risk assessment from mining activities as a result of tailings storage in the cross-border area Romania \u2013 Serbia \u2013 ERA-MIN_RO-SRB\u201d,<\/em> Jems code: RORS00063, funded through the Interreg IPA Romania\u2013Serbia Programme, took place at the headquarters of the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Bor (Serbia).<\/p>\n\n<p>The event brought together environmental protection experts, academics, and researchers from Romania and Serbia in a joint effort to analyze the environmental impact of mining activities and to develop a coordinated approach to monitoring and reducing risks in the border region.<\/p>\n\n<p>The workshop was opened by Dr. Daniel Kr\u017eanovi\u0107, the project coordinator from the Serbian partner, the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Bor, who stated: <em>\u201cWe are pleased to host this first workshop and to actively contribute to the development of a cross-border scientific framework that puts real issues generated by mining activities at the forefront. The ERA-MIN project is an opportunity to collaborate and propose concrete solutions for an area historically affected by intensive resource extraction.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>During the presentation session, Dr. Nicoleta Neme\u0219, ERA-MIN project manager, spoke about environmental issues at active mining sites, focusing on the regions of Moldova Nou\u0103 (Romania) and Bor (Serbia), highlighting the cumulative effects of extraction activities on soil, water, and air: <em>\u201cHistoric tailings deposits, massive deforestation, and air pollution with fine particles are turning active mining areas into critical ecological risk points.
