From idea to impact: a year of TransfrontaliERA

One year after its launch, the TransfrontaliERA project marks a first important chapter in cross-border cooperation efforts dedicated to protecting the environment and public health. Over the past 12 months, project partners have worked together to understand, monitor and assess the environmental risks generated by mining activities in the Moldova Nouă – Bor area, a territory where environmental challenges transcend administrative borders.

TransfrontaliERA brought together experts from different fields, public institutions, local communities and relevant actors from the two countries, starting from the conviction that complex problems need jointly built solutions. Through interdisciplinary scientific analyses, the project laid the foundations for a rigorous and integrated approach to environmental risks, contributing to a better understanding of their impact on population health.

In addition to the research component, TransfrontaliERA meant dialogue and exchange of experience. Events, workshops and meetings with specialists and decision-makers created real spaces for learning and collaboration, where good practices were shared and local perspectives were listened to. Constant communication with authorities, communities and the general public was a key element of the project, contributing to increasing the level of information and awareness.

We thank the implementation team, funders, partners and everyone who supported this endeavor. The road continues, with new activities, results and stories about cooperation across borders.
