In May, members of the ERA-MIN project team – Environmental Risk Assessment from Mining Activities as a Result of Tailings Disposal in the Romania-Serbia Cross-border Area (RORS00063) participated in a broadcast dedicated to presenting the results obtained within the research and monitoring activities carried out in the Moldova Nouă area. Journalists from Banat TV caught the research team at work, in the laboratories.
During the show, topics of interest to the community are addressed, such as the impact of historical mining activities on environmental quality, monitoring of environmental factors, analysis of waters and soils in the vicinity of tailings dumps, but also the importance of cross-border cooperation between Romania and Serbia in assessing and managing environmental risks.
Also presented are the main research directions developed within the project, the modern analysis methods used by the partners and the results obtained to date regarding the physicochemical and microbiological characterization of the investigated environmental factors.
The show represents an opportunity to learn directly from specialists about the activities carried out within the project, about the challenges associated with areas affected by mining activities, and about how scientific research can contribute to environmental protection and increasing the quality of life of local communities.
